In addition to Pat’s work with CIWRO/NSSL at the National Weather Center, Pat is also heavily engaged in other weather-related organizations on a local and national level.
National Weather Museum and Science Center
Pat is the Chair of the Board of Trustees for the National Weather Museum and Science Center in Norman, OK. This museum is the only museum in the world solely dedicated to weather! They currently have a number of weather artifacts and interactive displays in the museum space and are looking to expand their exhibits and open a larger museum facility. National Weather Association Social Media Committee
Pat is also a committee member of the NWA Social Media Committee. Membership is composed of operational meteorologists, faculty/staff from academic institutions, broadcast meteorologists, and students. They are responsible for actively participating in updating various social media platforms regarding NWA membership and events, interesting weather-related information, and other content relevant to the mission of the NWA. These are some of the best people in the field of meteorology, so Pat loves working with all of them!
Norman Chamber of Commerce Weather Committee
Pat is also the co-Chair of the Norman Chamber of Commerce Weather Committee. The Norman Chamber of Commerce is the only Chamber of Commerce in the world with a Weather Committee! Committee membership is composed of individuals with the National Weather Center, University Research Campus, and Norman-area businesses with a particular interest in weather. Monthly invited speakers highlight activities in the Norman Weather Enterprise and general Norman community.
Norman NEXT is a young professional’s organization for individuals 21 to 40 years of age, working or living in the Norman community.
NEXT is an organization that provides opportunities for young professionals to engage themselves with other young professionals and business leaders within the Norman community. NEXT provides different avenues for involvement within the community, such as social networking, government relations, community activism and leadership development, through our NEXT teams.
Pat is currently on the government relations and community activism groups with Norman NEXT.
